You’re absolutely right about the hard drives. I think this is at the heart of the issue. Where is the data stored. Apple is limiting access to localStorage (which is in the browser). For distributed software to work, I think the data needs to be stored only the local hard drive and end-to-end encrypted throughout its flight — hopefully by node software.
