I push on issues like this because I think it’s important that these issues stay at the forefront of the discussion. Over time people tend to fall back onto old habits. I think companies that are delivering blockchain data to “regular users” should be educating users on what it means to use truly decentralized data. Unfortunately, it’s somewhat against the company’s own best interest to educate their users too much.

I understand the point you make about the need for a transition period, but one of the things I’ve seen happen in the past is transition periods tend to drag out. Over time people forget the urgency, and the impetus to change stops moving forward.

You’re correct — to be fully decentralized, people will have to eventually run decentralized systems. My concern is that providing a comfortable ‘transition period’ lessens the probability that the difficult issues holding back decentralized systems ever get resolved.
